Sam Vogel, known professionally as Jauz, is an American DJ and electronic dance music producer from San Francisco. He established his record label, Bite This, in 2017. Vogel grew up in Northern California and began playing guitar and producing electronic music at 15. He attended Icon Collective music production school after initially going to film school at Loyola Marymount University, where he joined Kappa Sigma. He shifted to pursuing a music career, which led him to Icon Collective. Initially releasing future house tracks, he later adopted the stage name Jauz. His career took off when musician Kennedy Jones played one of his remixes and introduced him to Moe Shalizi, facilitating music releases on Borgore's label, Buygore. Vogel creates chill trap, bass house, and dubstep and incorporates heavy bass sounds reminiscent of the 80s and 90s, using Ableton as his digital audio workstation. Before his professional career, he used the stage name "Escape Dubstep" before choosing 'Jauz,' which he found short, simple, and catchy, despite disliking the word. He described "Jauz" as slang for 'bullshit' and a liar. Starting with remixes, his music drew the attention of renowned DJs like Diplo, Skrillex, and Borgore. In 2014, he released "Proppa Demands," "Pure Evil," and "Feel the Volume" and also released music on Monstercat and Spinnin' Records. In 2015, he put out songs such as "Rock the Party," "Get on Up," and "Squad Out!." The following year, he released "Higher," "Get Down," "Goodiez," "Shark Attack," "Magic," "Infected," "Ok!," and "Feel the Volume (JOYRYDE 'Stick It in Reverse' Mix)." In 2017, releases included "Claim to Be," "The Game," "I Hold Still," "Alpha," "Meant To Love You," "Lights Go Down," and "Dinner Chat," along with the first posthumous album, "Off the Deep End, Vol. 1." In 2018, he released tracks like "In The Zone," "Gassed Up," "Motherfuckers," "Keep the Rave Alive," "Diamonds," and "Super Fly," plus the second posthumous album, "The Wise and The Wicked." In 2019, new releases were "Dance Floor," "I Dare You," "Don't Leave Me," "Truth," "Thunder," "Shake," "Movin," "Get to Me," and a remix of "Trampoline" with SHAED. The year 2020 saw releases such as "Erase You," "Super Hott," "Bring Em Back," "Wildlife," "No Doubt," and "Dangerous." In 2021, he released "Oceans & Galaxies," "Sick," "Forever," "Make It Good," and a remix of Nessa Barrett's "i hope ur miserable until ur dead."
