Major Lazer

Major Lazer is an American electronic dance music and DJ group founded in 2008 by Diplo and Switch. Its music combines reggae and dancehall with reggaeton, soca, house, moombahton and electronic dance music, often built around collaborations with vocalists and artists from across pop, hip-hop and Caribbean music.

Switch left the group in 2011, three years after its formation. He was replaced by Jillionaire and Walshy Fire, expanding Major Lazer's DJ lineup alongside Diplo. Jillionaire departed in June 2019 and was replaced by Ape Drums. In 2025, British-Jamaican artist and internet personality America Foster joined the group as a vocalist.

The group released its first full-length album, Guns Don't Kill People... Lazers Do, in 2009, followed by Free the Universe in 2013, Peace Is the Mission in 2015 and Music Is the Weapon in 2020. Major Lazer has also issued six EPs. Apocalypse Soon, released in March 2014, included vocal contributions from Pharrell Williams and Sean Paul. The 2017 EP Know No Better featured appearances by Camila Cabello, Quavo, Travis Scott and J Balvin, among others.

Beyond its own releases, Major Lazer produced Reincarnated, the debut reggae album released by Snoop Dogg under his Snoop Lion persona. Billboard placed Major Lazer at number five in its 2018 Billboard Dance 100 ranking of dance musicians.
