mau5trap
Mau5trap is the Canadian independent label founded in 2007 by electronic producer Deadmau5, pronounced “mousetrap.” It is closely associated with techno and progressive house, while serving as a home for Deadmau5’s own work and a wider circle of electronic artists.
Before operating independently, Mau5trap functioned as a vanity label, with releases issued through Ultra Music, Virgin Records and Astralwerks. Its early profile was tied to Deadmau5’s catalog, including Random Album Title, and the label later carried releases that became major reference points in modern electronic music, including Skrillex’s Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and Rezz’s debut studio album Mass Manipulation.
The label’s roster has included artists such as Skrillex, Attlas, I_o and Rezz, alongside names including BlackGummy, Lamorn, dot, DI SUN, DEATHPIXIE, Volaris and lupa. Across those releases, Mau5trap has maintained a focus on electronic music built for both detailed listening and club-scale impact, with techno and progressive house at the centre of its output.
