Brent Faiyaz

Brent Faiyaz rose to prominence in 2016 with a guest appearance alongside Shy Glizzy on GoldLink’s “Crew,” a track that reached number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100, earned octuple-platinum certification from the RIAA, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Born Christopher Brent Wood on September 19, 1995, he is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer.

Faiyaz began his recording career in 2013 with the EP Black Child, followed by A.M. Paradox in 2016. That same year, he formed the R&B trio Sonder, serving as its lead vocalist. His solo debut studio album, Sonder Son, arrived in 2017. His work is associated with sly vocal performances and atmospheric slow-jam production, while his recordings also make room for occasional rapping.

His fourth EP, Fuck the World, was released in February 2020 and became his first project to enter the Billboard 200, where it peaked at number 20. Faiyaz followed it with his second studio album, Wasteland, in 2022. The album reached number two on the Billboard 200 and produced several Billboard Hot 100-charting singles: “Gravity,” with DJ Dahi and Tyler, the Creator; “Wasting Time,” featuring Drake and the Neptunes; and “Price of Fame.” “Dead Man Walking” also became a viral song on TikTok.

In 2023, Faiyaz released his debut mixtape, Larger than Life, which debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 and received continued critical praise. His later award nominations have included Favorite Male R&B Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards and Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the BET Awards in 2023 and 2024. Also in 2023, he founded the independent creative agency and record label ISO Supremacy, which signed fellow DMV artist Tommy Richman.
