Moses Sumney
Moses Sumney is an American singer-songwriter and actor whose work moves between art pop, indie soul, folk, alternative R&B and singer-songwriter forms. Born on May 19, 1992, he is associated with San Bernardino and Los Angeles. Sumney began releasing music independently with the self-recorded EP Mid-City Island in 2014, introducing a spare, voice-centered approach that would remain central to his recordings.
He followed it with the five-song EP Lamentations in 2016. In September 2017, Sumney released his first full-length album, Aromanticism. The record expanded the scale of his songwriting while retaining the intimate focus of his earlier work. His second studio album, Græ, arrived in 2020.
Sumney has also brought his music to audiences as an opening act for James Blake, Solange Knowles and Sufjan Stevens. Alongside his recording career, he's worked as an actor: in 2023, he appeared in The Weeknd’s HBO television series The Idol.
