Little Simz

Little Simz is the stage name of Simbiatu “Simbi” Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, an English rapper and actress from Islington, London. Born on 23 February 1994, she built her early profile through independent releases, developing a body of work that moved between rap, hip hop and R&B-informed production while keeping a sharply personal writing style at its centre.

Her first three albums, A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons (2015), Stillness in Wonderland (2016) and Grey Area (2019), brought her wider recognition. Grey Area was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and won Best Album at both the Ivor Novello Awards and the NME Awards. In 2021, she released her fourth album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, which received widespread critical acclaim and was named the best album of 2021 by several publications. The album won the 2022 Mercury Prize, while Little Simz also received the 2022 Brit Award for Best New Artist and the Libera Award for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Record.

She followed with No Thank You in 2022, another critically acclaimed release, and issued her sixth studio album, Lotus, on 6 June 2025. In 2024, she appeared on Coldplay’s single “We Pray” alongside Burna Boy, Elyanna and Tini. Away from records, Ajikawo has continued to work as an actor, starring in Netflix’s revival of the drama series Top Boy and appearing as herself in the 2021 film Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
