Justin Bieber
Justin Drew Bieber, born March 1, 1994, is a Canadian singer whose rise from online discovery to global pop stardom began in the late 2000s. American talent manager Scooter Braun found Bieber through YouTube and signed him to Raymond Braun Media Group. His debut EP, My World, arrived in 2009, earned international recognition, and made him a teen idol.
Bieber's first studio album, My World 2.0 (2010), topped the US Billboard 200, making him the youngest solo male artist to lead the chart in 47 years. Its single “Baby” became one of the best-selling singles in the United States. He followed with the Christmas album Under the Mistletoe in 2011, the first Christmas album by a male artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. With Believe (2012) and its acoustic re-release the following year, he became the first artist in Billboard chart history to score five US number-one albums before turning 19.
After a period of public controversies, Bieber returned with the EDM-infused 2015 single “Where Are Ü Now,” which preceded his fourth studio album, Purpose. The album produced three US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, “What Do You Mean?”, “Sorry,” and “Love Yourself.” Those songs also occupied the top three positions on the UK singles chart, a first for any artist. In 2017, Bieber featured on two further US number-one singles, DJ Khaled's “I'm the One” and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's “Despacito,” which tied the then-record for the most weeks at number one.
Changes (2020) and Justice (2021) both debuted atop the Billboard 200, making Bieber the youngest solo act with eight US number-one albums. In 2021, “Peaches” and “Stay” also reached number one in the United States. Following a brief hiatus, he released his seventh and eighth studio albums, Swag and Swag II, in 2025.
With more than 150 million units sold worldwide, Bieber is among the best-selling music artists of all time. His awards include two Grammy Awards, a Latin Grammy Award, eight Juno Awards, two Brit Awards, 26 Billboard Music Awards, 19 American Music Awards, six MTV Video Music Awards, and a record 22 MTV Europe Music Awards. Time included him in its 2011 list of the world's 100 most influential people, while Billboard ranked him the eighth-greatest pop star of the 21st century.
