Joji

Before recording as Joji, George Kusunoki Miller built a vast online following through The Filthy Frank Show, the shock-comedy YouTube series he created in 2011 while living in Japan. Performing as Filthy Frank and Pink Guy, Miller made videos for the TVFilthyFrank, TooDamnFilthy and DizastaMusic channels, mixing rants, extreme challenges, comedy hip hop, ukulele performances and dance routines. The work was known for its deliberately abrasive humor and viral reach. He also helped popularise the Harlem Shake meme, which contributed to the commercial success of Baauer’s “Harlem Shake.”

As Pink Guy, Miller released the comedy albums Pink Guy and Pink Season, along with an EP, between 2014 and 2017. He began making Filthy Frank videos in 2012 while enrolled at college in the United States, but ended the series in late 2017 to focus on music under the name Joji, the Japanese version of his first name.

Joji’s recordings draw together R&B, lo-fi and trip-hop, with Miller working as a singer, songwriter, rapper and producer. Signed to 88Rising and 12Tone Music Group, he released his first studio album, Ballads 1, in 2018. Its single “Slow Dancing in the Dark” entered both the Billboard Hot 100 and Australia’s ARIA Charts. His second album, Nectar, followed in 2020 and included “Sanctuary,” which also reached those charts. Both Ballads 1 and Nectar peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.

In 2022, Joji released “Glimpse of Us,” his highest-charting single. The song reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the ARIA Charts, preceding his third album, Smithereens, later that year. His fourth album, Piss in the Wind, was released on 6 February 2026.
