Beatrice Ilejay Laus (born June 3, 2000 in Iloilo City, Philippines), formerly known as Bea and best known as beabadoobee, is a British-Filipino singer-songwriter based in London, England.
Bea’s music is influenced by artists Alex G, Karen O, and Florist.
Bea released her debut EP Lice on March 1, 2018. In July 2018, Bea would later sign to label Dirty Hit, an independent record label based in London, England. Her second EP, Patched Up was released on December 7, 2018. On April 25, 2019, she released her third EP – Loveworm. On October 14, 2019, she released her fourth EP titled Space Cadet.
In 2020, Bea’s 2017 song “Coffee” was sampled in rapper Powfu’s song death bed (coffee for your head), which became a global hit thanks to video app TikTok.
With this newfound attention, Bea’s debut studio album Fake It Flowers was soon to follow, with singles like “Care,” “Sorry,” “Worth It,” and “How Was Your Day?” preceding the release.
In 2021, Bea released her fifth EP, titled Our Extended Play, which she co-produced with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
Her sophomore album, Beatopia was released in 2022. Following the release of the album, “the perfect pair” started to gain traction on TikTok and other short-form video platforms, and the audio continued to be used well into 2023.
On August 12, 2024, Bea released her third studio album, titled [This Is How Tomorrow Moves] (https://genius.com/albums/Beabadoobee/This-is-how-tomorrow-moves), which was produced with the help of Rick Rubin.
