Whitearmor
Ludwig Tomas Walther Rosenberg, known professionally as Whitearmor, is a Swedish music producer, multi-instrumentalist, audio engineer, and songwriter. He was born on May 25, 1993, in Stockholm, Sweden. Whitearmor is best known as a member of the Swedish music group and artist collective Drain Gang, alongside Bladee, Ecco2K, Thaiboy Digital, and Yung Sherman. His musical style is characterized by softly textured and fluid compositions.
From an early age, Rosenberg was exposed to a diverse range of musical influences, including artists like Bob Marley, Slipknot, and Atlanta trap musicians such as Waka Flocka Flame. During his teenage years, he played drums in an indie-rock band before transitioning to electronic and hip-hop music production.
Rosenberg began uploading music to the internet in 2010 under the aliases DJ Creep and DJ Cannabiz. In 2012, he adopted the moniker Whitearmor. While much of his early work has been removed from the internet, some tracks like "Tony Hawk" (with Ken Burns and Malcolm S.), "THC Bliss," "Enya #6," and "Downer" are still accessible. In 2011, he released an instrumental hip-hop cassette titled "Rippin Private Bowls" under Nymph Tapes, which was later rediscovered and uploaded online in May 2021.
In 2013, Whitearmor co-founded Drain Gang with fellow Swedish musicians Bladee, Ecco2K, Thaiboy Digital, and Yung Sherman. His earliest publicly available collaboration within the group was the 2012 single "Oxygen," produced for Bladee. The group released their debut compilation, "GTBSG Compilation," on August 12, 2013, with Whitearmor contributing to 10 of the 12 tracks. Beyond his work with Drain Gang, Whitearmor is closely associated with the Swedish music collective Sad Boys, which includes rapper and singer Yung Lean and producers Gud and Yung Sherman.
In 2019, Whitearmor formed the music duo VilloVilduVeta with Swedish musician Joakim Benon, a member of the band JJ. Their debut song, "Nästan," was featured in the 2019 Sad Boys/Converse "One Wish" campaign. They released their debut album, "Längtan får vingar," on July 2, 2021, with Whitearmor co-producing, writing, and mixing the project. In October 2021, they released the single "Nikita."
Whitearmor has also collaborated with artists such as Gud, Mechatok, Xavier Wulf, Uli K, and the production collective Working on Dying. In 2022, he released his debut solo instrumental album, "In the Abyss: Music for Weddings," which he composed, produced, and mixed. The album incorporates elements of ambient and new age music and has been described as soothing, uplifting, and accessible, drawing comparisons to mid-80s works by Haruomi Hosono.
In 2022, Whitearmor participated in the Drain Gang tour, which included 23 performances across North America and Europe, along with an additional performance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain.
