Gud
Gud, also known as Yung Gud, is a Swedish producer and DJ associated with the Stockholm collective Sad Boys, where he became widely recognized through his work with rapper Yung Lean. Working within the orbit of early cloud rap, he developed a reputation for lush, melodic production that helped define the sound of Lean’s early releases and the broader Sad Boys aesthetic.
According to the available biography, Gud’s early musical interests began outside hip hop. He started making music at a young age and initially focused on electronic styles such as psychedelic trance, later drawing on ambient music as well. His first tools included a Sony Ericsson music application before moving through GarageBand and Fruity Loops to Ableton Live. He later came to hip hop and cited a range of rap influences, including Lil Wayne, Young Thug, André 3000, Nas, and Lil Ugly Mane, alongside earlier listening that included nu-metal acts such as Slipknot and Korn.
Gud connected with Yung Lean through mutual friends, and the two began collaborating in 2012, including on an early track titled “Oreomilkshake.” He worked alongside other Sad Boys members, including Yung Sherman, during the group’s formative period. The stage name “Gud” was later expanded to “Yung Gud,” a choice he later criticized, and he subsequently returned to using Gud as his primary name.
Outside of his work with Sad Boys, Gud released solo material beginning with the EP Beautiful, Wonderful in November 2014, which was described in the provided text as a project aimed at presenting a specific sound and visual identity. In 2016 he released “Body Horror,” presented as his first original track after rebranding from Yung Gud to Gud. He has also collaborated with other artists and producers: the text notes work with S-Type on the track “Fire” (released as part of an EP in 2015), production for rapper Deniro Farrar on “World On My Shoulders 3.0,” and additional production on “Strange Love” by Halsey for the deluxe edition of Badlands. The same source also credits him with remixes for artists including Jacques Greene, Kacy Hill, and Tinashe.
The provided discography information also attributes later projects to Gud and his aliases, including the album Foreign Exchange with Rx Papi (2021), the collaborative EP Frutta e Verdura with Whitearmor (2020), and releases under the name Rooster, including Rooster Debut (2022) and the single pairing “Ssstupid / The End of the World” (2023). Another alias, Aamu Kuu, is linked in the text to the 2021 single “Vive La France / AAA.”
