The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers are the American electronic DJ and production duo of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, whose early work included remixes of songs by indie artists. They broke through internationally with 2014's “#Selfie,” a top-20 single in several countries, then moved from club-oriented EDM into a pop-facing run of original releases and collaborations.

Released in October 2015, the duo's debut EP Bouquet featured “Roses,” which reached the top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100. “Don't Let Me Down,” featuring Daya, became their first top-five Billboard Hot 100 single and won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording at the 59th awards ceremony. Their 2016 single “Closer,” featuring Halsey, gave the pair their first Billboard Hot 100 number one. That year also brought their second EP, Collage, released in November.

Their debut studio album, Memories... Do Not Open, arrived in April 2017 and topped the Billboard 200. Its singles “Paris” and “Something Just Like This” both reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 10. The duo followed with Sick Boy in December 2018 and World War Joy in December 2019, the latter debuting at number one on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. In Forbes' 2019 list of highest-paid celebrities, the Chainsmokers were named the highest-paid DJs, ending Calvin Harris' six-year run in that position.

After World War Joy, the pair released their fourth studio album, So Far So Good, on May 13, 2022. Their fifth album, Summertime Friends, followed on October 20, 2023, and they released their third EP, No Hard Feelings, in 2024. Alongside their Grammy, the Chainsmokers have received two American Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, and nine iHeartRadio Music Awards.
