Spencer Brown

San Francisco-based Spencer Brown, at 24, crafts innovative dance music that goes beyond fleeting industry trends, developing a fresh perspective in the progressive genre by blending authenticity with accessibility.

Spencer was discovered by Above & Beyond through his elegant 2014 debut "Chalice EP" on Avicii’s LE7ELS, which amassed over 1.5 million listens. A series of successful EPs on the iconic Anjunabeats label culminated in his 2018 debut album "Illusion of Perfection," presented as a continuous mix. This mix-album was Spencer’s creative response to the current trend of releasing numerous radio-edited singles, which he avoids.

Receiving wide-ranging support from DJs and radio such as Avicii, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Pete Tong, Hardwell, Danny Howard, Seven Lions, Gareth Emery, and more, Spencer continues to showcase his production versatility with music ranging from house to techno, trance to deep house, all while maintaining his distinct progressive flow.

Outside the studio, Spencer is well-acquainted with life on the road. He made his live debut at Avicii’s 2013 Hollywood Bowl show and toured North America on Avicii’s True Tour, performing in stadiums like Barclay’s Center, TD Garden, and Rogers’ Centre. This extensive touring occurred alongside his studies in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Duke University, where he graduated with distinction in 2016 after completing a 47-page thesis on omnidirectional loudspeakers.

With over a decade of DJing experience, Spencer’s live performances redefine classical approaches, focusing on audience engagement and original material over pre-made sets to create an unmatched journey. Following his opening for Above & Beyond’s 2018 Common Ground tour at venues like the LA Convention Center, Spencer launched his own international headline "Illusion of Perfection" tour in support of his mix-album, featuring extended 3 to 6-hour and open-to-close marathon sets.

His dedicated, growing fanbase has gained him entry to major festivals worldwide, such as Tomorrowland Belgium, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo NYC, Global Dance Denver, Ile Soniq Montreal, Dreams Fest Toronto, Electric Festival Helsinki, and more. Spencer has also been invited to perform at renowned clubs globally, such as Output Brooklyn, Echostage DC, Space Miami, and Hï Ibiza, invited by Armin van Buuren.
