Maara
Maara broke through in 2021 with the 'Ultimate Reward' EP on NAFF, then followed it with 'Potion Activated' on Sonido Isla. That second record carried 'The Forbidden Plum', which Resident Advisor nominated as one of the best tracks of the year.
Her sets run hotter and faster than the releases suggest, moving through progressive, trance, electro and breakbeat without settling on any of them. 'Goddess Within', on Radiant Love, is the clearest statement of what the music is for: queer, euphoric, built for a room that's already going. She works out of Canada and also records as mortar & pestle.
