Lil Uzi Vert

Lil Uzi Vert, born Symere Bysil Woods on July 31, 1994 or 1995, emerged from Philadelphia with a style that brought melodic rap, trap, emo rap, and rock-leaning instincts into the same frame. Raised in the city’s Francisville neighborhood, they first gained wider recognition with the 2015 commercial mixtape Luv Is Rage. Its release led to a deal with Atlantic Records through DJ Drama’s Generation Now imprint.

The 2016 single “Money Longer” gave Lil Uzi Vert their mainstream breakthrough and introduced the third mixtape Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World. The project also produced “You Was Right,” their first Billboard Hot 100 top-40 single. After another mixtape and an EP, Lil Uzi Vert appeared on Migos’ “Bad and Boujee,” the 2016 hit that reached number one on the Hot 100. Their own 2017 single “XO Tour Llif3” became their first top-ten hit as a lead artist and won the MTV Video Music Award for Song of Summer.

“XO Tour Llif3” led into Luv Is Rage 2, Lil Uzi Vert’s debut studio album, released in 2017. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. Lil Uzi Vert received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2018 Grammy Awards. Their public image has also been tied to eclectic fashion and a genre-blending approach to rap, with vocal melodies and emotionally direct songwriting central to much of their work.

After several delays, Lil Uzi Vert released their second studio album, Eternal Atake, in 2020. It became their second project to debut at the top of the Billboard 200. That year also brought Pluto × Baby Pluto, a collaborative album with Future. Lil Uzi Vert spent the following three years previewing and teasing their next solo album, Pink Tape, which arrived in 2023. It became their third consecutive solo project to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 and included “Just Wanna Rock,” a Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single.
