Friend Within

One of the most esteemed DJs and producers in house music, Friend Within, is celebrating 10 years in the industry.

Debuting almost entirely formed in early 2013, Friend Within emerged as an enigma, shrouded in mysterious press shots while releasing EPs on Dirtybird and Hypercolour. Speculation about Friend Within’s true identity was rampant, and his impeccable productions surged to the forefront of the UK house scene, contributing to the developing deep house sound, which led Disclosure to sign the classic “The Renegade.”

The ascent continued with remixes and collaborations alongside Disclosure, John Legend, London Grammar, Ella Eyre, and Nero, culminating in a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix composed entirely of his own tracks.

Behind the decks, Friend Within has performed globally with residencies at Ministry of Sound, Stealth, and Mint Club, in addition to shows at top events like Warehouse Project, Fabric, Parklife, Creamfields, Printworks, Space, Amnesia, EDC, Exchange LA, Splash House, Revolver, and The Epic Arcadia stage at Glastonbury.

The Friend Within discography includes collaborations with Friendly Fires, A-Trak, Kideko, and Shadow Child, as well as tracks on DFTD, Dirtybird, PETS, Hypercolour, Solotoko, Rinse, Fool’s Gold, Stress, and most recently Toolroom, which released his debut album Hope.

With a BBC Radio 1 hottest record, three mini mixes, and consistent heavyweight DJ support, Friend Within is poised for another 10 years in the industry.
