Minimal Dub Artists

On a Minimal Dub track, repetition does much of the work: a reduced techno pulse leaves room for echo, delay and low-end pressure to accumulate over time. The music favors spare drum programming, muted chords and small shifts in texture rather than prominent hooks or busy arrangement.

It overlaps with dub techno in its use of spacious, decaying effects, but strips the framework down further, often approaching the restraint of minimal techno. Compared with IDM or acid techno, it generally avoids elaborate rhythmic disruption and overtly melodic acid lines. The result is controlled, hypnotic electronic music that rewards close attention to subtle changes in tone, timing and resonance.
