The Black Keys are an American rock band that originated in Akron, Ohio, in 2001. Comprised of Dan Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums), the duo started as an independent outfit, creating music in basements and producing their own records. They later rose to fame as one of the leading garage rock bands during the genre’s revival wave in the 2010s. The band's gritty blues rock style is deeply influenced by Auerbach's blues inspirations, such as Junior Kimbrough, Howlin' Wolf, and Robert Johnson.
