Quantic
William George Holland is an English musician, DJ, and record producer who records under a wide range of names, including Quantic, the Quantic Soul Orchestra, The Limp Twins, Flowering Inferno, and Ondatrópica. Working as a multi-instrumentalist as well as a producer and remixer, he is associated with styles that draw on dance music and jazz traditions while also engaging closely with Latin and tropical forms.
Holland’s recorded output blends elements of tropical music, cumbia, salsa, bossa nova, soul, funk, and jazz. His approach is rooted in musicianship as much as studio technique. He plays guitars, bass and double bass, piano and organ, saxophone, accordion, and percussion, allowing him to move between rhythm-section roles, melodic writing, and arrangement. A key feature of his work is that much of the sound comes from original composition rather than the sampling of other artists’ material, aligning his productions with band-led recording as well as electronic methods.
Alongside his own releases, Holland has an extensive remix catalog, having produced remixes of more than 30 songs. His use of multiple aliases reflects the breadth of his projects, from work presented under his best-known name to group-oriented formats such as the Quantic Soul Orchestra, and other identities including Flowering Inferno and Ondatrópica. These parallel outlets have provided frameworks for different combinations of instrumentation and genre emphasis, while remaining tied to the same core interests in groove-based music, jazz harmony, and Afro-Latin and Caribbean-derived rhythms.
