Quantic
Quantic, the stage name of English musician, DJ and record producer William Holland, builds his music from a broad instrumental palette that includes guitar, bass, double bass, piano, organ, saxophone, accordion and percussion. Born on 18 April 1980, Holland writes much of his material as original composition rather than relying on samples, drawing together tropical music, cumbia, salsa, bossa nova, soul, funk and jazz.
His early releases came through Magnetic Fields, his first label, where he issued heavy soul and funk records before retiring the imprint in 2003. Alongside his work as Quantic, he has used several aliases and group names, including Flowering Inferno, Quantic and His Combo Bárbaro, Brakin Bread and Favourite People. He is also a remixer, having produced remixes of more than 30 songs.
In 2018, Holland founded Selva, a Brooklyn-based record label. He began releasing music through Selva in 2020. He also runs Selva Studios in Bushwick, Brooklyn, working as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, DJ, remixer and bandleader.
