Omar S

Alexander Omar Smith, known professionally as Omar-S, is a Detroit electronic music producer whose discography has stretched across more than two decades. His work moves through house and techno forms associated with his home city, including deep house, lo-fi house, jazz house and Detroit techno.

Smith has owned and operated FXHE Records since founding the label in 2003. The label has served as a central outlet for his own releases as well as a platform for newer Detroit artists. In recent years, he has been described as a mentor and supporter of artists including John FM and HiTech, releasing their music through FXHE and providing a physical space where they could hold events.
