Lancey Foux

Lancey Foux is a rapper and singer from Stratford in east London whose name comes up whenever the UK underground's recent rise gets explained. The Guardian called him "fundamental" to the scene's development, and Dazed has labelled him its godfather, though he has pushed back on the word underground himself. He started out with the mixtape Pink in 2015, and Pink II in 2018 brought a Skepta feature on "Dyed 2WICE" and a slot on Skepta's European tour.

Friend or Foux followed in 2019, then the 2021 mixtapes FIRST DEGREE and LIVE.EVIL, and the 2022 album LIFE IN HELL, whose track "LANCEY OR LANCEY" took off on TikTok the following summer. CONGLOMERATE, a 2024 joint project with Fimiguerrero and Len, reached number 23 on the UK Albums Chart, a first for all three.

2026 has been his busiest year in some time. FIRST DEGREE: 2ND CHARGE arrived in February, and THE TIME OF OUR LIVES, his first solo album in four years, came out on 28 August through Human Re Sources and RCA. It runs to 21 tracks across trap, future-leaning R&B, electronic music and Afro-influenced rhythms, with production from snypes, Vuko, Jay Trench and Lancey himself, and a guest spot from Finessekid. He told Clash for his cover feature that the title is about having fun, "but it's also what I'm going through right now."
