At twenty years old, Emmit Fenn watched his single "Painting Greys" climb to number one on Spotify's Global Viral chart, where it stayed for eight days. He was still in college. He dropped out shortly after, signed with TH3RD BRAIN Records, and never went back.

Fenn grew up in Berkeley, California. He started playing piano at twelve, turning to music after his parents separated. Guitar and violin followed, then formal study in composition and music theory. Those classical foundations show up across his work, which folds live piano and strings into layered electronic production. The result sits somewhere between indie electronica and downtempo, moody and spacious but anchored by real instruments.

His 2017 debut project, Prologue, collected nine tracks including "Painting Greys" alongside collaborations with Malaysian singer Yuna on "Modern Flame" and vocalist NyLo on "Oceans." That same year, he co-wrote and co-produced "bitches broken hearts" with Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell. The song was notable as the first Eilish track to feature a producer outside of Finneas. It went on to earn platinum certification from the RIAA.

Apple came calling next. Fenn's track "Meteorite" scored the iPhone XR launch commercial in 2018, and his music appeared in a separate Apple Watch ad as well. His song "Until We Leave The Ground" landed on the soundtrack for the Netflix film To All The Boys: Always and Forever in 2021.

His debut full-length album, Far From Here, arrived in April 2021. Ten tracks of vulnerable, piano-driven songwriting about love, loss, and family. Fenn described the record as an exercise in openness: "I wanted to be completely open about my past on a very intimate level and show how I've grown from it." A remix album followed later that year. In 2023, he released the four-track When We First Met EP, continuing to work in the same emotionally direct register.

Fenn plays multiple instruments, writes his own material, and produces it himself. He works at the intersection of electronic music and singer-songwriter craft, building songs around piano rather than drops.
