EARTHGANG
EarthGang is the Atlanta hip-hop duo of Olu, also known as Johnny Venus, and WowGr8, also known as Doctur Dot. The pair formed in 2008 and later became co-founders of Spillage Village, the musical collective they built with JID, Hollywood JB, JordxnBryant, 6lack, Mereba and Benji.
The duo began releasing music with the 2010 EP The Better Party. Several singles followed, along with the 2011 mixtapes Mad Men and Good News. EarthGang released its debut album, Shallow Graves For Toys, in 2013. Noisey called it “one of the most well thought-out releases of the year,” highlighting its playful delivery and biting lyricism. Their second album, Strays with Rabies, arrived in 2015 to positive reviews.
After signing with J. Cole’s Dreamville Records, EarthGang issued a three-part EP run that led into its major-label debut. Rags and Robots were released in 2017, followed by Royalty in 2018. The sequence set up Mirrorland, released in 2019. Across those projects, Olu and WowGr8 have worked as a duo while remaining central to Spillage Village’s collaborative circle.
