Aloe Blacc
Aloe Blacc is an American rapper and singer, and one half of the group Emanon alongside producer Exile. His real name is Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III. He signed with the renowned hip-hop label Stone’s Throw in 2006 and released his debut album Shine Through that same year. The album mainly featured singing, marking a shift from the rapping Aloe had done with Emanon, and was almost entirely self-produced except for one track by Madlib.
His second album, Good Things, brought him international success, largely due to the single "I Need a Dollar," which hit #2 on the UK singles chart and was certified platinum there.
Blacc achieved further acclaim by co-writing the huge Avicii hit "Wake Me Up," which reached number one in most European countries and hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Aloe released an acoustic version of the song on his third studio album, Lift Your Spirit. This album included the highly successful track "The Man," which peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was reportedly played 108 times during the 2014 NFL draft.
