The Killers
With more than 35 million records sold worldwide, The Killers have grown from a Las Vegas band into one of the biggest rock acts of the 21st century. Formed in 2001 by Brandon Flowers, who handles lead vocals, keyboards and bass, and guitarist Dave Keuning, the group built a sound associated with alternative rock, new wave, post-punk revival and dance-rock.
The lineup settled the following year, when Mark Stoermer joined on bass, rhythm guitar and backing vocals, and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. took over drums and percussion. Before Stoermer and Vannucci arrived, Flowers and Keuning had worked through several short-term bassists and drummers. The four-member lineup became the foundation of the band’s recorded work and international touring.
The Killers’ seven studio albums have all reached number one on the UK Albums Chart: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012), Wonderful Wonderful (2017), Imploding the Mirage (2020) and Pressure Machine (2021). Their catalog also includes the compilation albums Sawdust (2007), Direct Hits (2013) and Rebel Diamonds (2023), each of which reached the UK top 10.
The band’s scale as a live act has matched its record sales. The Killers have performed in more than 50 countries across six continents, headlining Madison Square Garden and Wembley Stadium. They have also headlined Glastonbury Festival twice, in 2007 and 2019, and topped the bill at Electric Picnic in 2023. From their Las Vegas beginnings, Flowers, Keuning, Stoermer and Vannucci have maintained a long-running partnership whose albums and concerts have reached audiences around the world.
