
ScHoolboy Q
Quincy Matthew Hanley, born on October 26, 1986, and better known by his stage name ScHoolboy Q, is an American hip hop recording artist from South Central Los Angeles, California. He is signed to Top Dawg Entertainment and Interscope Records and is a member of the hip-hop supergroup Black Hippy, with fellow West Coast rappers and label-mates Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and Kendrick Lamar.
Q was born on October 26, 1986, at a military base in Germany. His parents separated, and he and his mother relocated to Texas briefly before moving to LA, where he spent most of his upbringing. During high school, he played various sports, including baseball and football, and he also became a member of the 52 Hoover Street Crips gang.
In an interview, he mentioned that his name was inspired by a local pimp in his neighborhood and his academic performance in high school. He is the father of a daughter named Joy.
Prior to his first independent album, he released two mixtapes. The album, titled *Setbacks*, came out on January 11, 2011, and reached #100 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling approximately 1,000 digital copies in its first week. Almost a year later, on January 14, 2012, he released
