Travis Scott

Travis Scott has placed five songs at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, including a run in which “Highest in the Room,” “The Scotts” with Kid Cudi, and “Franchise” featuring Young Thug and M.I.A. all debuted at the summit in less than a year, the first artist to do so. Born Jacques Bermon Webster II in Houston on April 30, 1991, he works as a rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer, building records around rap, trap, melodic vocals, and dense, shifting production. He has cited Kanye West and Kid Cudi among his influences, and is also known for dynamic live performances and fashion.

Scott signed a major-label recording contract with Epic Records in 2012 and also joined Kanye West’s GOOD Music as an in-house producer through a publishing deal. In 2013, he entered a joint venture with T.I.’s Grand Hustle Records and released his first full-length project, the mixtape Owl Pharaoh. Its follow-up, Days Before Rodeo, arrived in 2014. His debut studio album, Rodeo (2015), brought both critical and commercial success, led by “3500,” featuring Future and 2 Chainz, and “Antidote,” which reached number 16 on the Hot 100.

Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016) became Scott’s first number-one album on the Billboard 200. The following year he formed Huncho Jack with Quavo, releasing the collaborative album Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho. His 2018 album Astroworld earned widespread critical acclaim and became his second consecutive Billboard 200 chart-topper. Its Drake-assisted single “Sicko Mode” gave Scott his first Hot 100 number one.

Scott founded Cactus Jack Records in 2017, later signing artists including Don Toliver, SoFaygo, and Sheck Wes. The label’s 2019 compilation JackBoys also topped the Billboard 200. After five years between studio albums, Scott released Utopia in 2023. It opened at number one with 496,000 equivalent album units, his fourth consecutive number-one studio album, and produced the top-ten singles “Meltdown” featuring Drake, “Fein” featuring Playboi Carti, and “K-pop” with Bad Bunny and the Weeknd. He also co-directed the accompanying short film Circus Maximus, combining the album’s music with experimental cinema. In 2025, “4x4” reached number one on the Hot 100, while JackBoys 2 became his sixth consecutive number-one album overall on the Billboard 200.

Scott has received ten Grammy Award nominations and has won a Latin Grammy Award, a Billboard Music Award, an MTV Video Music Award, and several BET Hip Hop Awards. He has also worked with Nike, Dior, Audemars Piguet, and McDonald’s. In November 2021, a crowd crush at Scott’s Astroworld Festival performance in Houston caused ten deaths and hundreds of injuries, an event that brought sustained scrutiny to concert safety and his live events.
