KSHMR

KSHMR, the stage name of Niles Hollowell-Dhar, emerged from the production team the Cataracs, where he performed under the name Cyrano. Born on October 6, 1988, in Berkeley, California, Hollowell-Dhar worked in the Cataracs alongside David “Campa” Benjamin Singer-Vine and became associated with the duo’s work with singer Dev. Before adopting the KSHMR alias in 2014, he was also known as a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer.

Working as KSHMR, he developed a profile in EDM through big-room, electro-house and pop-dance productions, including material that incorporates Indian EDM elements. His early behind-the-scenes work included a credit connected to DVBBS and Borgeous’ “Tsunami,” while releases under his own name include “Karate,” “Secrets,” with Tiësto and Vassy, and “Heaven.”

KSHMR entered DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll at number 23 in 2015, receiving that year’s highest new-entry recognition. He rose to number 12 in 2016 and 2017, returned to that position in 2020, reached number 11 in 2021, and ranked number 12 again in 2022. His live appearances have included Coachella, Tomorrowland, EDC, Ultra and Sunburn.

In July 2017, KSHMR launched Dharma Worldwide as a sublabel of Spinnin’ Records. His work has also been associated with labels including T-Series and Lost In Dreams Records. Pronounced “Kashmir” and commonly styled in all caps, KSHMR remains the principal name for Hollowell-Dhar’s work as a DJ, producer and recording artist.
