DJ Stingray

DJ Stingray, born Sherard Ingram, is a Detroit electronic music producer and DJ closely associated with the city’s techno and electro tradition. He founded Urban Tribe and has worked as an associate of Drexciya, the Detroit electro duo whose work is central to his artistic context. He has also performed and released music under names including DJ Stingray 313, Drexciyan DJ Stingray and Stingray 313.

Ingram’s productions and DJ sets focus on futuristic electro, with fast tempos and inventive beat patterns rather than more conventional club rhythms. Although his music is often discussed through electro and Detroit techno, he prefers to describe his style simply as techno. His work has appeared through labels including Tresor Records and Motech.

As a DJ and producer, Stingray has remained a prominent figure in Detroit’s techno and electro scene, linking the city’s electro lineage with a high-speed, rhythm-driven approach to electronic music.
