Bou
Mohamed Amine Bouguenna, known professionally as Bou, is an Algerian-British musician from Manchester. He first drew wider attention through a feature on Bru-C’s track “Streetside,” which preceded a run of releases that placed him in the orbit of contemporary UK dance music.
After “Streetside,” Bou released “Closer” with Slay. He later collaborated with Chase & Status on “Baddadan,” a track that reached number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. These releases followed a steady upward trajectory in chart performance: “Streetside” peaked at number 84, “Closer” reached number 24, and “Baddadan” climbed into the top five.
Beyond his own recordings, Bou is credited with inspiring the use of cowbell on Piri & Tommy’s “On & On,” a detail that points to his presence as a reference point within the same broader network of UK club and pop-adjacent electronic music.
