TWICE (HAN: 트와이스) is a South Korean girl group under JYP Entertainment. Comprised of nine members—Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu—TWICE was formed through Mnet’s survival show SIXTEEN and made their official debut on October 20, 2015, with their first EP The Story Begins.

Their major success came in 2016 with the title track “Cheer Up,” which reached number 1 on the Gaon Digital Chart and emerged as the best-performing single of the year. TWICE also became the first Korean girl group to achieve the Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).

With members from Taiwan and Japan, the group targets an international audience, with JYP Entertainment focusing on Japan, the largest K-pop market abroad, and China, which has significant potential.

The meaning behind TWICE's name was explained by Park Jinyoung during Sixteen, stating:

The name signifies that the group will touch people’s hearts twice—firstly through the ears and then through the eyes. The group will emanate a natural and friendly feel, serving as an upgraded version of Wonder Girls and miss A, with edgier, charismatic images.

Former South Korean president Moon Jaein adopted “Cheer Up” with adjusted lyrics as his campaign anthem during the 2017 elections. In that year, TWICE secured third place overall and first among recording artists in Forbes Korea Power Celebrity. The girl group also received the esteemed Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation at the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.

In 2018, TWICE garnered their third consecutive MAMA Song of the Year award with “What Is Love?” being the first group to accomplish this feat.

On July 13, 2022, JYP Entertainment confirmed that all nine TWICE members renewed their contracts due to expire later that year. The group celebrated by releasing their eleventh mini album, BETWEEN 1&2, on August 26.
