Squarepusher
Squarepusher is the recording name of Thomas Russell Jenkinson, an English electronic musician, producer, bassist, multi-instrumentalist and DJ born on 17 January 1975. His work brings together drum and bass, IDM, acid techno, jazz fusion and electroacoustic music, often pairing dense drum programming with live instrumental performance and digital signal processing.
Jenkinson has recorded as Squarepusher since 1995, working with Warp Records as well as smaller labels including Rephlex Records. Across his music, rapid electronic rhythms sit alongside a hands-on approach to bass and other instruments, with jazz fusion and electronic production meeting in tightly constructed, often technically elaborate tracks.
He is the older brother of Andy Jenkinson, who records as Ceephax Acid Crew. Squarepusher has also used names including Stereotype, Chaos A.D. and The Duke of Harringay.
