Isaiah Rashad
Isaiah Rashad McClain (born May 16, 1991) is an American rapper and record producer based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He began rapping seriously in high school as a sophomore with his friends. His first big break came in 2012 when he toured with artists such as Juicy J, Joey Bada$$, and Smoke DZA on the Smoker’s Club Tour.
He also co-founded his hip-hop collective with fellow Chattanooga rapper YGTUT. Together, they released Rashad’s first mixtape, Welcome to the Game, also known as Pieces of a Kid, in 2013. In March of the same year, Rashad signed with Top Dawg Entertainment.
In 2014, he released his debut extended play Cilvia Demo, featuring guest appearances from fellow TDE members including SZA, Jay Rock, and ScHoolboy Q.
Following the release of Cilvia Demo, Rashad faced challenges with drug addiction and depression. Although these struggles were described in Cilvia Demo, his issues worsened to the point where he almost got dropped from TDE.
On September 2, 2016, his first studio album, The Sun’s Tirade, was released to critical acclaim, featuring TDE members Zacari, Kendrick Lamar, and SZA, as well as production by non-TDE affiliate Mike WiLL Made-It.
In March 2018, Rashad mentioned he planned to release an album in the summer but did not. In September, he tweeted he would not update fans on the project's progress but confirmed he was still working on it.
