Betoko

Betoko is the stage name of Alberto Cohen, a Mexican electro and house producer and DJ who has also been credited as DJ Betoko and Beto Cohen. His early career included a publishing deal with AMI/Sony ATV Music Publishing, a step that preceded a move to London in 2002 and placed him in the city’s club and studio circuit.

Working primarily within house and electro-leaning club music, Cohen has released recordings under the Betoko name across a range of imprints, including his own OKO Recordings as well as labels such as Embassy One, IDiot Electronic, Einmusika Recordings, and Dear Deer. His use of multiple aliases has appeared in credits and releases, reflecting the practical realities of DJ and producer work across different catalogues and label contexts rather than a single fixed artist credit.

Born in Mexico in 1979, Cohen’s relocation to the United Kingdom marked a shift from local beginnings to a base in London, where he continued developing as a producer and DJ. His output has been associated with electro and house styles, aligning him with the club-focused end of electronic music production and the DJ culture that supports it.
