Silk Sonic

Silk Sonic emerged from the partnership between Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, two musicians who developed their collaboration after maintaining a good relationship during Mars's 24K Magic World Tour in 2017 and 2018. Mars invited .Paak to record with him, and the sessions became An Evening with Silk Sonic, the duo's 2021 debut album.

Released as a soul, funk, R&B and neo-soul project, An Evening with Silk Sonic debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 and drew praise from music critics. Its lead single, “Leave the Door Open,” spent 18 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 top ten, including two non-consecutive weeks at number one, and also topped the New Zealand chart. The album also produced “Skate,” “Smokin out the Window,” “After Last Night” and “Love's Train.” Every one of those singles except “Skate” reached number one on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs chart, making the record the second album to yield four chart-toppers there.

“Leave the Door Open” earned four Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. The duo also received BET Award nominations for Best Group in 2021 and 2022, plus a Brit Award nomination for International Group in 2022. “Smokin out the Window” won Video of the Year at both the 2022 BET Awards and Soul Train Music Awards, while “Love's Train” received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration in the Traditional category. An Evening with Silk Sonic was named R&B Album of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and Album of the Year at the BET Awards.

In 2022, Silk Sonic brought the album to the stage with An Evening with Silk Sonic at Park MGM, a concert residency mounted in support of the record.
