Papa Roach

Papa Roach broke through at the turn of the millennium with “Last Resort,” the lead hit from its triple-platinum 2000 album Infest. The single reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and earned a 6× platinum certification from the RIAA, bringing the Vacaville, California band’s rap-inflected hard rock to a wide audience.

Formed in 1993, Papa Roach went through several early lineup changes before settling in 1996 around vocalist Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperance and drummer Dave Buckner. The group issued demo EPs and its first full-length album, Old Friends from Young Years, in 1997 before signing with DreamWorks Records in 1999.

After Infest, Papa Roach released the gold-certified Lovehatetragedy in 2002 and the platinum-certified Getting Away with Murder in 2004. The latter album’s second single, “Scars,” became the band’s highest-charting mainstream hit, reaching No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Paramour Sessions followed in 2006. Buckner left the band in 2007, with Tony Palermo taking over on drums.

The band continued releasing albums across the following decades, including Metamorphosis in 2009, the live album Time for Annihilation in 2010, The Connection in 2012, F.E.A.R. in 2015, Crooked Teeth in 2017 and Who Do You Trust? in 2019. Papa Roach’s eleventh studio album, Ego Trip, arrived in 2022.
