Moderat
Moderat is a Berlin-based German electronic music supergroup formed by Sascha Ring (also known as Apparat) together with Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary of Modeselektor. The project brings together Ring’s work as a solo artist and the production partnership of Bronsert and Szary, with the group name combining elements of “Modeselektor” and “Apparat.”
The group has released four studio albums. Their most recent album, More D4ta, was released on May 13, 2022. Moderat’s sound is commonly associated with electronica and indietronica, and the group has been noted for combining electronic production with a strong emphasis on live presentation and visuals.
In 2009, Moderat were voted “The #1 Live Act of the Year” by readers of Resident Advisor, reflecting the reputation they developed as a touring act as well as a studio project. The band’s recorded output and performances have remained tied to the Berlin electronic music milieu from which its members emerged, while operating as a distinct collaborative identity separate from Apparat and Modeselektor.
