Incubus
Incubus is an American alternative rock band hailing from Calabasas, California. Formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer Jose Pasillas while they were students at Calabasas High School, the group later added bassist Alex “Dirk Lance” Katunich and Gavin “DJ Lyfe” Koppell, who were eventually replaced by bassist Ben Kenney and DJ Kilmore.
With significant commercial success, Incubus has achieved multi-platinum sales and released several hit singles, including "Dig" and "Drive."
Throughout their lengthy career, the band has experienced many style shifts. Their early albums, Fungus Amongus (1995) and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. (1997), were characterized by an aggressive, funky metal sound influenced by 80’s bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
As Incubus gained mainstream recognition in the late 90s and early 2000s, their music evolved into a more post-grunge sound with albums like Make Yourself and Morning View.
The band's success continued with A Crow Left of the Murder… (2004). Their sixth studio album, Light Grenades, became their first and only album to debut at #1.
Incubus released their first greatest hits album, Monuments and Melodies, in June 2009. By the time they released their 2011 album, If Not Now, When?, the band had shifted to a more pop-rock style. Their eighth studio album, titled 8, was released on April 21, 2017.
