Dove Cameron rose to fame playing both title roles in Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie, a dual performance that earned her the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in Children’s Programming. Born Chloe Celeste Hosterman on January 15, 1996, she is an American singer and actress from Bainbridge Island, Washington, whose early screen work led to a major role in Disney’s Descendants film franchise.

Cameron starred as Mal, the daughter of Maleficent, across the Descendants films from 2015 to 2021. Her Disney work also brought her onto the soundtrack albums for Liv and Maddie and Descendants between 2015 and 2019, giving her music career a broad platform alongside her acting. She later appeared in the live television musical Hairspray Live! in 2016 and took roles in films including Barely Lethal, Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls, Dumplin’, Good Mourning, and Vengeance. Her television credits also include Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Marvel Rising franchise.

As a solo recording artist, Cameron works in pop and alternative pop. Her 2023 debut EP, Alchemical: Volume 1, followed the breakout single “Boyfriend.” The song reached the top 20 of the US Billboard Hot 100, received critical success, and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. Cameron has released music through Columbia and Disruptor Records while maintaining a career that moves between recorded pop, soundtrack work, film, and television.
