Dove Cameron
Dove Cameron is an American singer and actress best known for playing both title characters on Disney Channel’s Liv & Maddie and the daughter of Maleficent in Disney’s Descendants series. Born Chloe Celeste Hosterman on January 15th, 1996, she had a passion for music and acting from a young age. She changed her name to Dove in honor of her father after his passing, as it was his nickname for her.
Dove's major breakthrough came when she was initially cast as Alanna in the Disney Channel pilot Bits and Pieces, which was shelved. The show evolved into Liv & Maddie, where Dove was cast as the titular twins. In a 2016 interview with Playbill, she revealed she nearly quit due to the workload and the unique challenge of playing two TV characters, but she persevered and became a star.
She then landed the lead role in Disney’s 2015 film Descendants, which tells the story of the children of famous fairytale villains who face whether to follow their parents' evil ways or forge their own path. The film was soon named the fifth most-watched cable movie ever, and its success led to a sequel announcement at a Disneyland Descendants event in October 2015. Dove returned for 2017’s Descendants 2, which attracted over 20 million viewers across six networks during its premiere.
Beyond acting, Dove was part of a band called The Girl and the Dreamcatcher with then-boyfriend/fiancé Ryan McCartan. However, the project ended after their breakup, and Dove is now focusing on her solo music career.
Dove released her debut EP, Bloodshot / Waste, on September 27, 2019. She has since released four more songs: So Good, Out of Touch, Remember Me feat. BIA, and most recently We Belong.
