Stones Throw
Under founder Peanut Butter Wolf, Stones Throw Records has built its identity around a wide-ranging approach to independent music, issuing work that runs from hip hop to experimental psychedelic rock. LA Weekly described the label as an “eternally evolving experiment” when marking its 20th anniversary, a fitting summary of a catalog that refuses to sit within a single style.
Based in Los Angeles, California, Stones Throw is an American independent label whose releases connect beat-driven music with more exploratory sounds. Its roster has included Skipping Stone, alongside artists working across the label’s broad musical spectrum. Rather than following a fixed genre formula, Stones Throw has remained identified with Peanut Butter Wolf’s open-ended direction and a willingness to release records that move between hip hop and psychedelia.
