NAAFI
NAAFI started as a series of parties in Mexico City in 2010, run by Alberto Bustamante and Fausto Bahía, and the letters stand for No Ambition And Fuck-all Interest. It has been a club night, a collective and a label ever since, usually all three at once.
The music pulls local forms into club structures rather than the other way round: reggaeton, cumbia and banda alongside drum and bass, techno and South African house. It's part of why the label gets credited with loosening the west's hold on what club music is supposed to sound like. Tayhana, Lao, Debit and Zutzut have all released through it.
