The Glitch Mob
The Glitch Mob emerged from Los Angeles around 2006, bringing together Justin Boreta, Edward Ma and Josh Mayer under a shared electronic music project. Ma performs as edIT and Mayer as Ooah, while Boreta used the name Boreta. The group also appeared under shortened variations including TGM, Glitch Mob and The Glitchmob.
For much of its run, The Glitch Mob operated as a trio of Boreta, edIT and Ooah. Boreta remained a member from the group’s formation until 2023. The Glitch Mob is now a duo consisting of Ma and Mayer, based in Los Angeles, California.
The project’s music sits across electronic styles including glitch, glitch hop, dubstep, IDM, drum and bass, industrial and electronica. Its approach has been described as a collage of the members’ differing skills and aesthetics, with the group also becoming known as a live electronic act. In LA Weekly, Chris Martins wrote that The Glitch Mob had “undoubtedly found the largest audience of any L.A. beat scene artist yet.”
