upper class

Upper Class is a lo-fi house project by Sebastian Döring and Thorsten Freese. The duo has also worked under the names The Upper Class, The Upperclass, Knee Deep, and Notus, reflecting a catalog that has circulated across closely related aliases.

Associated with the lo-fi house style, Upper Class has released recordings through a mix of self-titled and independent imprints. Their releases have appeared on labels including Cultura, upper class & D.K.denz, upper class, EELF Records, and Besser-Samstag, placing the project within a network of small-scale platforms commonly used for club-oriented electronic music.

In addition to their work as Upper Class, Döring and Freese’s alternate names have been used for related output, with The Upper Class and The Upperclass functioning as near-variants of the main project name. Knee Deep and Notus have also been credited to the pair, indicating parallel strands of activity connected to the same core collaborators.
