Tobtok
Tobtok is the stage name of Swedish DJ and producer Tobias Karlsson, who has also released music under the names Tobok and Tobias Karlsson. Working in deep tropical house and UK dance, he emerged as part of a generation of Scandinavian producers whose club-focused tracks were designed for both DJ sets and radio-friendly dance playlists.
Karlsson is widely associated with a dance interpolation of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” a release that helped introduce his name to a broader audience beyond the usual electronic-music channels. The track’s hook-driven approach fits with the streamlined, vocal-forward style often heard in tropical and UK-influenced house, where familiar melodic fragments and pop structures are frequently reworked for the dancefloor.
As Tobtok, he has released music through a range of dance and house imprints, including Perfect Havoc, Loud Division and its LoudKult Division offshoot, Future House Music, and Selected. These labels are commonly linked with contemporary house and crossover dance releases, reflecting the lane Karlsson occupies: polished production, accessible arrangements, and a sound that sits between club utility and mainstream dance songwriting.
Although his catalog extends beyond any single platform’s partial tracking, Tobtok’s recorded output under his various aliases places him within the modern European house continuum, where producers often move between remixes, edits, and original singles while maintaining a consistent sonic identity. Karlsson is from Uppsala, Sweden, and continues to be identified primarily by his work as Tobtok.
