Pile
Pile began as Rick Maguire’s solo project in the late 2000s before becoming a collective with the 2010 release Magic Isn't Real. Based in Boston, the band has since released nine full-length albums and become a regular touring act in the United States and Europe.
Working across indie rock, post-hardcore, noise rock and punk, Pile is built around Maguire alongside Kris Kuss, Matt Becker, Matt Connery, Chappy Hull and Alex Molini. The Village Voice described the group’s music as a “distinct blend of melted guitars,” pairing “howling-wolf vocals” with “shred-free guitar harmonies.”
Though Pile has remained outside the mainstream, the group has drawn a notably committed following and grown into a prominent name in Boston’s indie-rock community. Releases have appeared through Exploding In Sound Records and Sooper Records.
