Pile
Pile began as Rick Maguire’s solo project in the late 2000s before becoming a full band with the 2010 release of Magic Isn’t Real. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, the group has since released nine full-length albums and developed a reputation within the city’s indie rock community while remaining outside the mainstream.
The band’s music draws together indie rock, noise rock, post-hardcore, indie punk and midwest emo, with a volatile approach to guitar-driven songwriting. The Village Voice described Pile’s sound as a “distinct blend of melted guitars,” pairing “howling-wolf vocals” with “shred-free guitar harmonies.”
In recent years, Pile has expanded its audience through frequent touring in the United States and Europe. The band has been recognized for the intensity and loyalty of its fan base, and its work has appeared through labels including Exploding In Sound Records and Sooper Records.
