John Roberts

John Roberts was an American singer, trumpeter, songwriter, arranger, conductor and orchestrator, born in Houston in 1941. His best-known recording was “Sockin’ 1-2-3-4.”

Roberts was discovered in 1965 by Bob Garner, a talent scout for Don Robey, and signed to Duke Records. He later worked closely with Barry White and became head of the music department at Centennial High School in Compton, California.
