Chronixx
Jamar Rolando McNaughton, known by his stage name Chronixx, has sparked a flame in the hearts of people worldwide, guiding a new generation to reconnect with their roots and culture.
Born on October 10, 1992, Chronixx was influenced musically from a young age by his father, artist Chronicle. Growing up in an environment that included artists like Burro Banton, Norris Man, and Gregory Isaacs, he received his first significant mentorship from Danny Browne, recording his debut tune in 2003. His rise in the music industry gained momentum as he harmonized for artists such as Lutan Fyah and provided production assistance on tracks for Konshens, Munga Honorable, Popcaan, and others.
Chronixx became a notable artist following the deaths of his blood brother in 2007 and his close companion, Lil' J.O.E., in 2010. This period of mourning drove him to focus on his vocal talent, supported by Zincfence Records producer Romaine ‘Teflon’ Arnett, who encouraged him to perform the lyrics he had been writing for others.
His first EP, "Hooked on Chronixx," released in 2010, quickly captured the attention of music enthusiasts and industry professionals. Tracks like ‘Start A Fyah’, ‘Capitalist’ (featuring Infinite), and ‘Behind Curtain’ became fan favorites, expanding his influence beyond Jamaica. ‘Warrior’ marked his first official video, further establishing his presence.
In 2013, Chronixx embarked on his first tour in Europe with his band, later naming them Zincfence Redemption. Their compelling performances elevated the Chronixx experience to new levels.
That same year, he represented Jamaica in Nairobi as a Peace Ambassador before Kenya’s general elections. By 2014, Chronixx had participated in a reggae and jazz series in New York City with legends Ernest Ranglin and Monty Alexander and strengthened ties with Sly & Robbie, King Jammy, Leroy Sibbles, and Danny Browne.
Released in April 2014, The Dread & Terrible Project, featuring seven tracks and three dub versions, topped Billboard and iTunes reggae charts. It includes a short film directed by “The Guru” Ras Kassa, based on the track ‘Rastaman Wheel Out,’ and the hit single ‘Here Comes Trouble.’
With impressive achievements in a short span, the world anticipates even greater wonders from this young artist with an old soul. For Chronixx, music is a mission, and he continues to make history.
“Prepare your minds and hearts for this revolution.”
