Bob Marley & The Wailers
Bob Marley & The Wailers were a Jamaican reggae band formed by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer.
They started the band while living in Trenchtown, Jamaica. The band's lineup changed numerous times over the years, including members of The Upsetters and the vocal group led by Rita Marley, the I-Threes.
The band recorded their first song, “Judge Not” with Beverley’s Records. Their first studio album, The Wailing Wailers, was produced by Jamaican Studio One label and included their first hit, “Simmer Down”. The Wailers' second studio album, Soul Rebels, was their first to be released outside Jamaica. It was recorded in Kingston and produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry, featuring one of their all-time hits, “Soul Rebel”.
Following an assassination attempt, Bob Marley went into self-imposed exile in London, England. There, Bob Marley & the Wailers recorded Exodus, released under Island Records. The album reached No. 20 on the Billboard 200 and No. 8 on the UK charts, featuring major hits such as “Jamming”, “Waiting In Vain”, “One Love/People Get Ready”, and “Three Little Birds”.
