Tall Black Guy
Tall Black Guy is Detroit producer Terrel Wallace, known for sample-based instrumental hip-hop, neo-soul and jazz-inflected beat work. Raised on Motown, jazz and early hip-hop, he developed a production style built around flipped samples and rhythmic detail.
Wallace has released music through his own Tall Black Guy Entertainment imprint as well as Chapter 3hree, Verse 5ive Music and The New Old. His work has also connected him with vocalists and fellow artists including 80s Babies, The Primeridian, Maylee Todd, Teri Tobin, Skyzoo, Little Dragon, The Foreign Exchange and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Gilles Peterson included Tall Black Guy on a Brownswood Bubblers compilation.
