Red

Red broke into the mainstream with Until We Have Faces, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in 2011. The Nashville Christian rock band was formed in 2002 by brothers Anthony Armstrong on guitar and Randy Armstrong on bass and piano, alongside lead vocalist Michael Barnes. Its earliest lineup also included drummer Andrew Hendrix and guitarist Jasen Rauch.

After recording demos rooted in alternative, hard, and Christian rock, Red entered a development deal with longtime producer Rob Graves. That relationship led to a 2004 record deal with Essential Records. The band's debut, End of Silence (2006), and its follow-up, Innocence & Instinct (2009), were each nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. Those records also produced the singles “Breathe Into Me” and “Death of Me.”

Red followed Until We Have Faces with Release the Panic in 2013, which peaked at No. 7, then released of Beauty and Rage in 2015, Gone in 2017, Declaration in 2020, and Rated R in 2023. Also known as RED and R3D, the group has maintained a sound spanning Christian alternative rock, hard rock, alternative metal, and symphonic rock.
